Abstract From Jin Ping Mei金瓶梅 to Dream of the Red Chamber紅樓夢, a series of family-society secular novels (also family novels or clan novels) in the background of family life are written in the middle of Ming-Qing Dynasties. The secular novels begin in Jin Ping Mei. And what is its last literary work? Is Dream of the Red Chamber the last? Take Shen lou Zhi蜃樓志 with the tendency to secular writing in the middle of Qing Dynasty as an observation, I try to analyze its truly category and then to investigate the decay of the secular novels in Ming-Qing Dynasties.
