Abstract This essay discuss the “Chi Kang’s Concept of Nature.” By absorbing Lao-tzu and Chuang-tzu’s thoughts of nature and the meaning of nature in Hang dynasty’s cosmogony, Chi Kang's concept of nature includes not only the meaning of cultivation but also the meaning of chi-hwa and human nature. Some scholars think that there are conflicts in the thoughts. According to the analysis of Chi Kang’s articles, the author thinks this is the fullness and specialty of Chi Kang’s concept of nature. We have not only the different conditions and objective limitations, which are given by the chi-hua, and human nature, but also the universal and regular basis of cultivation, that rise above the limitations. If we release the mindedness, the harmonious heart will recover its essential harmony spontaneously. And hence we can get tranquility and freedom in the world of spontaneous harmony.
