Abstract Chuang Tzu′s philosophy can be penetrated by the concept of “saunter.” There were two kinds of connotation when Chuang Tzu used the word of “saunter.” One of them connoted a literary meaning, in which Chuang Tzu compared human life to a travel, and the other connoted a philosophic meaning, in which “saunter” represented freedom. Freedom brings up joyness. Life is deserved to be free and joyful, which is called by Chuang Tzu as “saunter with carefreeness.” In order to saunter carelessly, one must let go all the worrying. In order to let go of all the worrying, one must know how to forget. The only way to forget is to treat all nature as equal. That is, there is no difference between beauty and ugliness, the rights and wrongs, the nobleness and tramps, the nature and ego, life and death. The way to treat all nature as equal is to be enlightened by Heaven. Since all nature are equal, there is no discrimination. The non-discrimination dismisses all thoughts of competition, and one can relieve from the annoyance of gain and loss. In so doing, when he confronts with his desires, it seems nothing to him, which is so called forgetfulness. If one can saunter and forget himself, there is nothing worth of worrying, and he will be a real carefree person
