Abstract Based on writings of Zhuxi scholars of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and the scholars of practical learning of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, this study aims to outline the history and characteristics of Yijing scholarship in Late Yi Dynasty of Korea. The Zhuxi school had a preference for metaphysical discussions, numerology and Song commentaries. Perhaps with the exception of Yi Toegye, this school produced few influential and original scholars of the Yijing. The school of practical learning used textual criticism to examine the Yijing and applied the theories of the Yijing to different aspects of life. This study has identified major features in Yijing scholarship in Yi Korea from the sixteenth century to the nineteenth century, situating Korean scholarship within a larger context of East Asian Yijing studies.
