Abstract This article attempts to annotate and compare the Ci-poems of “appreciating the sea tide” written by Liu Young and Su Shih, who are both famous Ci-poets of North Sung Dynasty. Though there are some identical features in form (such as sentence pattern and rhymes), these two Ci-poems display completely different styles which are realistic and romantic respectively in contents and techniques of works. “Realism” and “Romanticism” are western theories, but they are also two common inclinations of appreciating the beautiful in human mind. Using these theories, we can more efficiently realize the unique and superiority of Chinese Literature. Therefore, in this article, we successfully use them to observe the unique and superiority of the Ci-poems of “appreciating the sea tide” written by Liu Young and Su Shih.
