| Abstract |
This article aims to investigate the modes of Theme-Rheme combination and logico-semantic relations in the text of the Tao Te Ching, and to explore from a systemic-functional linguistic perspective various lexical devices employed in the Tao Te ching to build up lexico-semantic fields and achieve texture for this Taoist canon with focus on the function of connectives in establishing textual cohesion and coherence, because conjunction is not only an important lexical device to establish cohesive ties between linguistic elements, but also an important marker of logico-semantic relations between them. |
