Abstract There are two belief systems in Confucianism: one system believes in virtue has an absolute influence on a person’s longevity, blessing, and wealth. Another one believes in fortune is not related to a person’s longevity, blessing, and wealth. The former system is adopted by Book of History, while the latter is not. Chi-fukuan ‘s “The Commentary on Book of History” points out four kinds of two systems in The Book of History, provides us a different perspective of it. They are four points that are neglected by researchers: 1. The viewpoint of Book of History is influenced by the Confucianism before Epoch of Warring states, Lao-Tzu, and the thoughts during Han Dynasty. 2. The reaction of frustration can be observed in (1) preoccupation in negativity (2) awareness in reality (3) doubts in superior power (4) virtue-cultured (5) prestigious-remained 3. In conclusion, some works before Epoch of Warring states, Lao-Tzu, and Pre-Hang Dynasty has a the same view, that is, mistake the relationship between fortune and virtue are absolute. That’s the reason why The Book of History also has the same viewpoint. 4. However, the Book of History views wealth is separated from virtue, which is very different from Mencius’ view, it gives a new definition and can be seen as a revision in Confucianism in Han Dynasty.
