Abstract In "Literary Thoughts" of The Literary Mind and Craving of Dragions, Liu Xie origionally invents the term of "image;" he says, the employment of images offupies a dominant position in writing and writers should know the meaning of "image before creating works. Literary theories in The Literary Mind and Craving of Dragions in a grate extent, are associated with "image," and the combination of various kinds of images embody the presentation of literary form, rhythm, and content. In the chapter called "Literary Origin," Liu Xie suggests that spirituality, and the presentation of literary form, rhythm, amd content, etc. originate from nature; sages wisdom and writing are also based upon nature, thus, their masterpieces can reveal a rare "natural beauty" hidden beneath the literary form, rhythm, amd content. In the chapter of "Literary Form," Liu Xie mentions, imageplays and important role in poetic form and other genres associated with poetic form ahd other genres associated with poetry so these literary forms con completely manifest the beauty of composition which is rich in feeling and eloquent in expression. In the chapter entiled "Literary Technique," Liu Xie delivers three important messages. First, the combintion of images must depend on the operation of imagination. Sesondly, the employment of similes and metaphors determines the experesssion of images. Finally the pressentation of literary form, rhythm, amd contentmust rely on the emaodiment of images. In "Literary Critcism," Liu Xie indicates that literary criterion is established by way of "imagery assocation." On the other hand, he also points out, the practical employment of theory is to differentiate good poets from lousy ones, which the former writers beautifully yet scrupulously obeying certain principles, but the latter overuses superflous cliches and presents ideas with meretricious expression. Through analyzing different themes among "Literay Technque," and "Literary Criticism," the wrinter tyies to investingate the main body of The Literary Mind and Craving of Dragions -- "imagism," and explicates how the combination of images reveals the characteristics of a good composition; that is the presentation of appropriate form, beautiful yhythm, and impressive content.
