In addition to the preface which briefly delineates my motivation and process of writing this paper, the rest of the essay can be divided into three parts: I. The description of its author and cinishing year og Shanhai Classic (the book of ancient Chinese geography)--it covers from Liu Xie of the Han Dynasty to twenty three people’s scholarship. They credited the earliest author of Shanhai Classic would be Yu of Xia Dynasty and the latest would be the man of Han. Some credited that this book was not finished until vary late despite its authou and finishing year. II. The research in the various problematic revisions--it can be divided in two parts: 1) the names of the places in Qin and Han 2) four chapters in "Hainei Classic" 3) five fhapters in "Dahuang Classif" (including another chapter in "Hainei Classic"). III. Reconsideration and reexamination of its author and finishing year of SHanhai Classic--it is divided as 1) The author of Shanhai Classic is a superficial scholar and this book is written by a group of scholars nat by a single man. 2) The finishing years of Shanhai Classic are fourteen years from Yuanding first year to the third year of Taihan(89 B.C.) of Wu Emperor in the Han Dynasty.
