| Abstract |
This article focused analyzing on poetic terms about Light in the 1160 poems in The Whole Collection of Tang Poetry. We conclude that it is very common for Tang poets leave lights on while sleeping at night. This discovery proves that the phrase Remaining Light used in Tang poetry meant the time between dawn breaking and the end of one’s sleep. It is an important contribution to the annotation of Tang poetry. In addition of proves from literatures, we found from the investigation of the volume of the container for Lights from unearthed artifacts in China, we can experiment about the light burn out time. Also proves our theory of people leaves lights on while sleeping.
