Title The Delight of Confucius and Yun Hwei -- What Cheng Ming-tao had comprehended

Abstract Chou Twun-yee had instructed Cheng Ming-tao at his teenage. The teacher always required the young man to search “the delight of Confucius and Yen Hwei”. From then on, Confucius and Yen Hwei became the character models that Cheng Ming-tao was committed to achieve. Traditionally, Chinese scholars used to consider Mencius as the disciple of Confucius. However, Yen Hwei was the Confucian fondest student. Yen Hwei was gentle and graceful; who behaved as perfect as a saint did. Beside, Yen Hwei always felt comfortable to lead a simple and virtuous life even in poverty. He had devoted to realize benevolence. These are what Confucius had advocated virtues. In this article, I firstly compare the difference character types of Confucius, Mencius and Yen Hwei. Secondly, I detail the profound meaning that Chou Twun-yee required Cheng Ming-tao to search for “the delight of Confucius and Yen Hwei”. Finally, I explore the delight that Cheng Ming-tao had comprehended from Confucius and Yen Hwei.
