Author Chen Man-Ming
Page 35~68
Abstract The art of writing is closely related to its content and form since the content shall be presented by means of form and the form is supported by the content. When one discusses a literary composition in terms of its art of writing, he/she will inevitably handle these topics. The content is considered as warp and the form as weft that weaves into a piece of work. In this article, I define the content of a literary composition, which includes image, the organization of writing, theme and style. I also analyze the “multiple, binary, and unitary (zero)” structure in perspective of the art of wringing. First, rhetoric, syntax, and individual image that tend to modify wording and phrasing are subject to multiple structure. As a whole, the organization of writing and the collection of images that highlight a composition are also subject to multiple structure. Second, image refers to pictorial thinking. On the other hand, the logical thinking constitutes the organization of writing. The both interact as feminine and masculine elements of a binary structure. Third, the theme, in a literary composition, is the combination of rhetoric, image and the organization of writing that forms the style and demonstrates aesthetic success. Therefore, the theme is subject to unitary (zero) structure.
