The linguistic theory of connotation and denotation is an important lingustic theory which has newly emerged in recent years, which has greatly promoted the scientific development of the linguistic theory.In China, it is Wang Xijie that as made a normous and systematic research, and has tried to perfect this theory. Meanwhich Yu Gengyuan is an active supporter, advocator, researcher and practitioner of the theory. Some of his ideas have bettered the theory to some extent. The theory of connotation and denotation has become a kind of new viewpoint, and principle of the methodology, which has been studied, acknowledged and applied. The further development of the theory needs more researchers and supprters.
