Abstract |
This is a study about the Taiwan poetess Hu Pin-Ching(1921-). We tried to make an analysis of the self images in her poetry. There are four types: (1) Narcissus in the mirrors—it represents her narcissism and sorrow felling.(2) the princess in fairy tales—it represents her beautiful but unreal dreams.(3) weak plants which are sunward and pure—this represents she is always waiting for love, and always tender and pure.(4) special women types—she ever described siren, poetry goddess, crazy woman and bohemia girl to reflect her expectation to be intransigent and free. She also set an immortal self image named “another Eve”. Hu Pin-ching is blamed for craving for love. But it is a challenge of woman desires under the viewpoint of particularly society. However, we should confirm her insist on being a poetess and writing all her life.
