Abstract |
During the period when Du Fu lived in Cheng Du, his poetry began to focus on the themes of a quiet and secluded home life. Du Fu frequently incorporated the typical seclusive symbols in his poetry to represent himself and his surroundings. This article will explore the twin themes of “the building of a secluded space” and “representations of a secluded self”, in order to discuss the theme of solitude (seclusive writing) in Cao Tang poetry and also to draw some conclusions regarding Du Fu’s opinions of the self and his particular experience of a secluded life.
