Page 65~110
Abstract Zhang Mengji entered the Department of Physical Education in National Taiwan Normal University in 1960, where he received the doctorate’s degree in the Department of Chinese in 1981. He spent twenty years in National Taiwan Normal University, which had a great influence on his character and poetic style. Zhang showed his talent on poetry during his participation in the Humanity Society. As a graduate student, he met Li Yushu, who not only became his advisor on thesis and classical poetry writing but introduced him to the circle of classical poetry, where he met fellow poets and became the member of Mingyi Poetry Society. He relocated to Xindian when he became the doctorate’s student. The part-time teaching experience also broadened his horizon of poetry. Zhang later became acquainted with Wu Wangu and Jiang Jiesheng and participated in Tingyun Poetry Society. The fellow poets have become Zhang’s models since Professor Li passed away. The thesis attempts to refrain from Zhang’s “Yao Lou” years, but analyzes his school days, lost poetry as well as published literature, reconstructing Zhang’s early style. Meanwhile, by analyzing Zhang’s youth traces and poetry, the author delves into life experiences and cultural inheritance of poets who relocated to Taiwan from China during 1960s and 1970s.
