Abstract Zhu-xi,the famous scholar in South Song dynasty, have devoted most of his careers to studying the Four Books, and his Collected Notes on Passages in the Four Books was taken as a masterpiece . Being limited by editing style, this book had not showed Zhu’s precise ideas and shifted views. If we want to realize his whole interpretations and those reasons behind, it is necessary to pass through his other works and the Classified Utterances edited by his prentices. By reading these materials comparatively, cross- examinedly and analytically, Zhu’s perspectives would be turned up completely. This way looks simple, whereas it is indispensable. Seeing that Zhu’s commentaries on Confucian classics are too many to be undertaken, this paper selected his discussion on three chapters from the Analects of Confucius as examples, in the meanwhile, made a deliberating trace of text. By drinking a ladle of water, we may get to know the taste of whole river.
