Degree Programs
Department of Chinese (Bachelor’s)- Curriculum Planning for the department is divided into five categories, as follows: Philology, Literature, Philosophy, History, Teaching Practicum. Courses are complete and substantial. There is a uniformed distribution of teachers according to expertise; more than 90% of the teachers are professors or associate professors and they are mostly outstanding in their field of expertise.
Education goal for Ph.D. students:
- Deepen understanding towards traditional contexts, increase cultural understanding and ability to elaborate on them, emphasizing cultural values.
- Familiarise the development of philosophical thoughts, increase the ability of critical thinking and interpretation, seeking cultural spirit.
- Study and master the changes in literature development. Make use of literary theories to explore literary aesthetic.
- Increase language literacy and professional accomplishment, combining theories and practicum, to understand the language structure.
- Improve Professional knowledge and Teaching Skills in Secondary School teachers.
There are many channels of enrolment into Ph.D. classes, and they possess international cultures characteristics. There are international students, sister school’s students, double degree students and visiting students. This allows us to create a learning environment suitable for international academic exchanges.
Master’s
Characteristics of professors’ expertise and courses:
- Great emphasis on all courses. Equal standing for philosophical, literature and history courses.
- Variety of courses, both traditional and modern; consisting of studies in Ancient Chinese and modern prose, poetry etc.…
- Wide international perspective, good teachers.
There are many channels of enrolment into Masters’ courses, and they possess international cultures characteristics. There are international students, sister schools’ students, double degree students and visiting students. This allows us to create a learning environment suitable for international academic exchanges.
Curriculum Planning for the department is divided into five categories, as follows: Philology, Literature, Philosophy, History, Teaching Practicum. Courses are complete and substantial. There is a uniformed distribution of teachers according to expertise; more than 90% of the teachers are professors or associate professors and they are mostly outstanding in their field of expertise. Upon receiving the certificate to be a certified teacher, students who fulfill the following criteria:
- Teaching in Chinese for more than a year, current public or private schools teachers
- Relief Teaching in Chinese for more than 2 years (2 years, 4 semesters or 24 months in total)
From 2017, there will be enrollment in summer for MA Program in Chinese. This is applicable for students who have already received a Bachelor’s Degree, and have at least 2 years of work experience and fulfill the one of the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chinese, Chinese Language, Chinese Language and Linguistics, Language Education, Chinese Literature, Applied Chinese, Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Media and Communication in Chinese Dialects.
- Bachelor’s degree in any field but with a minor in Chinese, Chinese Language, Chinese Literature.
