Full-time Assistant Professor (or above) Department of Chinese, National Taiwan Normal University

JOB SUMMARY:

The Department of Chinese at National Taiwan Normal University invites applicants for a full-time faculty member beginning in Spring, 2023. We seek applicants who have completed, or are currently working toward, a Ph.D. in “Philosophy & Linguistics” and “Literature & Applying”, and are capable of EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction).

SPECIALITIES:

The position will involve teaching courses in the areas of:

  1. “Philosophy & Linguistics”: Teaching courses in fluent English for Readings in Classical Chinese Philosophy, Introduction to Chinese Linguistics, Selected Readings of Chinese Classics.
  2. “Literature & Applying”: Teaching courses in fluent English for Selected Readings on English Literature, Introduction to Cultural Studies, Introduction to Contemporary Cultural Studies.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. D. degree.
  2. Applicants who received their highest level of education from National Taiwan Normal University must possess 2 or more years of full time job in research, professional positions, or fields related to their main teaching subject after their graduation from National Taiwan Normal University.
  3. Fluent English and capable of teaching EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) courses.
  4. Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:
  5. Have Published one or more monograph in the past three years. Please provide the reviewer comments and proof of publication.
  6. Have published or been listed as the first author or corresponding author for two academic papers in journal listed in Social Science Citation Index, Arts & Humanities Citation Index, Taiwan Social Sciences Citation Index, or Taiwan Humanities Citation(originally Taiwan Humanities Citation Index Core) within the past three years.
  7. Have served as the principal investigator in at least two Ministry of Science and Technology research grante in the past three years.
  8. Have extensive practical experience in the field and reviewable and concrete achievements.

 

Required Application Documents:

  1. Photocopy of the doctoral degree diploma and transcript. Foreign documents must be authenticated with official seals of ROC, representative offices, or other agencies authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in foreign countries.
  2. Resume or CV and application form with proof of teaching-related employments, past and present, if any.

  4. Original or Offprint of Academic Publication, Monograph, or Research.
  5. A personal statement describing Teaching background, Research interests, or Service to the Department, College, University, and/or professional community. Please provide documents of teaching experience(e.g. contracts, syllabus)
